Explanation:
“A Rose for Emily” was among Faulkner’s first published stories. Like many of Faulkner’s stories, it takes place in fictional Yoknapatawpha County, located in Faulkner’s home state of Mississippi. Setting so many of his stories in one location allows him to treat this community in depth, which in turn allows Yoknapatawpha County to stand in as a credible microcosm for the American South at large.
The town of Jefferson as represented in “A Rose for Emily” is an insular one. The only outsider is Homer Barron, a Northerner, and his death is caused as much by Emily as by the druggist who sold her the arsenic, and by the townspeople who watched murder happen with bemused indifference. As a result, the town itself has a crypt-like staleness. The “we” of the narrative reinforces the closed space of the story, in which any outsider is treated with scorn. Within this sealed tomb of a story, from the name of the town, Jefferson, to the first residents mentioned in the story, the town that the living occupy is likewise filled with the bodies and memories of the dead. Emily may live with the dead in a horrific and quite literal way, but, as depicted by Faulkner, she is a product of the death-obsessed and backward-looking culture that made her.

As a young boy, Rama, an epic hero of the ancient Hindu culture, was sent to contend with demons. His father, King Dasaratha, did not want to send him, but the sage insisted. Many cultures have stories of young boys going into battle with forces much bigger or more experienced than they are. One famous story comes from the ancient Hebrew texts about a boy named David who went into battle against a giant, named Goliath. Another story concerns a Native American hero called Arrow Boy. Modern stories can feature female heroes such as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games.
Why do you think so many different cultures have stories in which young people triumph over forces much greater and more experienced? Can you think of other stories that feature young heroes against forces of evil? Discuss a few.
Answer:
I believe that many cultures have stories in which young people triumph over forces because versus adults kids think more outside of the box, just because they're not old enough to "make their own decisions" (as some adults say) doesn't mean that they're not smart enough to handle themselves. Kids also don't let weakness get to them they will keep going without giving up. Some kids books that are "Kids Vs Evil" are.. Doctor Sleep, The Death Path, Wonderland, etc.

Describe the central thesis of Julius Ceaser by William Shakespeare
The central thesis of William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar is that individuals who put their personal interests before the good of the people will cause political chaos.
Julius Caesar is a tragedy about the political ambitions of powerful men who place their own interests above those of the Roman people. It shows the way ambition can drive people to do things that they would never have considered before, and how this can lead to political turmoil and even civil war.
In the play, Caesar's ambition and his overconfidence in his own power lead to his downfall. He is assassinated by a group of conspirators who fear that he will become a tyrant and destroy the Roman Republic. However, their actions only serve to create more chaos, as Mark Antony and Octavius Caesar wage war against the conspirators and establish a new dictatorship.

Read the excerpt from Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare.
"Ay, ay, a scratch, a scratch. Marry, 'tis enough.
Where is my page? Go, villain, fetch a surgeon."
Using your knowledge of figurative language, "a scratch, a scratch." is an example of which technique?
a
Alliteration
b
Meiosis
c
Onomatopoeia
d
Simile
The phrase "a scratch, a scratch" in the excerpt is an example of meiosis because it downplays the true extent of Mercutio's wound. The correct option is b.
Meiosis is a figure of speech that involves understatement or downplaying the significance of something. In this excerpt from Romeo and Juliet, when Mercutio exclaims, "Ay, ay, a scratch, a scratch," he is downplaying the severity of his wound.
He was actually fatally wounded, but he dismisses it as merely a scratch. This is an example of meiosis because he is using understatement to diminish the seriousness of his injury.
Alliteration refers to the repetition of initial consonant sounds in a sequence of words, which is not present in the given line. Onomatopoeia refers to words that imitate the sound they represent, which is not applicable here either. Simile involves comparing two unlike things using "like" or "as," which is also not evident in the line.

Memories of a Memory
Have you ever witnessed something amazing, shocking or surprising and found when describing the event that your story seems to change the more you tell it? Have you ever experienced a time when you couldn't really describe something you saw in a way that others could understand? If so, you may understand why some experts think eyewitness testimony is unreliable as evidence in scientific inquiries and trials. New insights into human memory suggest human memories are really a mixture of many non-factual things.
First, memory is vague. Imagine your room at home or a classroom you see every day. Most likely, you could describe the room very generally. You could name the color of the walls, the floors, the decorations. But the image you describe will never be as specific or detailed as if you were looking at the actual room. Memory tends to save a blurry image of what we have seen rather than specific details. So when a witness tries to identify someone, her brain may recall that the person was tall, but not be able to say how tall when faced with several tall people. There are lots of different kinds of "tall."
Second, memory uses general knowledge to fill in gaps. Our brains reconstruct events and scenes when we remember something. To do this, our brains use other memories and other stories when there are gaps. For example, one day at a library you go to quite frequently, you witness an argument between a library patron and one of the librarians. Later, when telling a friend about the event, your brain may remember a familiar librarian behind the desk rather than the actual participant simply because it is recreating a familiar scene. In effect, your brain is combining memories to help you tell the story.
Third, your memory changes over time. It also changes the more you retell the story. Documented cases have shown eyewitnesses adding detail to testimony that could not have been known at the time of the event. Research has also shown that the more a witness's account is told, the less accurate it is. You may have noticed this yourself. The next time you are retelling a story, notice what you add, or what your brain wants to add, to the account. You may also notice that you drop certain details from previous tellings of the story.
With individual memories all jumbled up with each other, it is hard to believe we ever know anything to be true. Did you really break your mother's favorite vase when you were three? Was that really your father throwing rocks into the river with you when you were seven? The human brain may be quite remarkable indeed. When it comes to memory, however, we may want to start carrying video cameras if we want to record the true picture.

What does the reader learn about Peuchen from his actions in the excerpt? He is an experienced seaman. He is thinking only of himself. His family is already in a lifeboat. His main desire is to help the others in the boat.
This question is missing the excerpt. I was able to find it online. It is the following:
No. 6 was halfway down when a woman called up to the Boat Deck, "We've only one seaman in the boat!"
"Any seamen there?" Lightoller asked the people on deck.
"If you like, I will go," called a voice from the crowd.
"Are you a seaman?" "I am a yatchsman"
"If you're sailor enough to get out on that fall, you can go down."
Major Arthur Godfrey Peuchen - vice commodore of the Royal Canadian Yatch Club - swung himself out on the forward fall and slid down into the boat. He was the only male passenger Lightoller allowed in a boat that night.
Answer:
What the reader learns about Peuchen from his actions in the excerpt is:
A. He is an experienced seaman.
Explanation:
When a ship is sinking, children and women are prioritized to board the boats. Men are only allowed in when there is room left, which is often not the case. In the excerpt, the reason why Peuchen is allowed in the boat is his experience as a seaman, which can be useful to help keep the women and children safe. That experience is revealed by the narrator's words, when he tells us that Peuchen is a vice commodore of a Yatch Club. It is also revealed by Peuchen's actions. The fact that he is able to swing himself into the boat is already proof of his experience as a seaman. With that in mind, we can choose letter A as the best option.
NOTE: This question does not specify if we can choose more than just one option. In case that is possible, letter D would also be correct. Peuchen's actions do reveal his experience, but they also show a desire to help.
Answer:
The correct answer to this question A. He is an experienced seaman.

In the story, Dr. Jekyll repeatedly talks about having
only two choices. Yet I know from my own experience
that there are usually many options to choose from
when dealing with human behavior—not just good or
evil. This leads me to conclude that Dr. Jekyll had a
strict, uncompromising, black-and-white view of the
world that didn't leave room for half measures and
shades of gray
In this excerpt, Darcy is?
A. writing a summary
B. making a prediction
C. making an inference,
D. describing a strategy
After reading passage, in this excerpt, Darcy is making an inference. Option C is the correct answer.
A inference we draw as a result of the information we have is known as an inference. Inferences are phases in the reasoning process that connect logical conclusions to premises. "Carry forward" is the definition of the verb infer. Option C is the correct answer.
Darcy is drawing a conclusion about Dr. Jekyll, the narrative's primary character, at this point. Darcy speculates that Jekyll has an unyielding worldview. He knows Jekyll frequently asserts that he only has two options in life because of the information he possesses. Darcy is unaware of the significance of Jekyll's remarks. Jekyll must decide between his two personalities—good and evil. His conclusion is therefore incomplete since he lacks all the relevant knowledge and facts.

According to Justice Brown, who is at fault if one group of people feels inferior to another? How would Plessy deal with the segregation laws? ¨Plessy v. Ferguson¨
Fault if one group of people feels inferior to another, according to Justice Brown, is that it is their own fault.
This implies that people who feel inferior or unequal to others do so because of their own mentality or perception of themselves, rather than the actions or beliefs of others. This is an attitude that has been largely discredited by later legal and social research.
Plessy v. Ferguson was a landmark case that challenged the constitutionality of segregation laws in the United States. Homer Plessy was arrested for refusing to leave a whites-only train car in Louisiana. He argued that segregation laws violated the Fourteenth Amendment's Equal Protection Clause.
