Y es que la mayoría de quienes se concentraron en ese pueblo viajaron solos, con poco dinero que se agotó con rapidez.
Pero no hay registro oficial de esas muertes. Las documentaciones históricas se basan en entrevistas a extrabajadores de la época.
Ahora la Alianza realizó la Caravana Holocausto Bracero para recordar lo que sucedió en esos años.
Es uno de los capítulos menos conocidos en la relación entre México y Estados Unidos.
Un grupo de sobrevivientes partió de Los Ángeles, California, hasta Empalme donde se inauguró una estatua dedicada a los braceros. Es el único monumento para ellos que existe en México.
