Lily drummed her fingers on the desk. Where can Cathy be? she wondered worryingly. Cathy had promised to bring the English project that had taken all month long to create. Now, Cathy wasn't here, and the presentation was going to begin in 10 minutes. She better be here soon, Lily thought. Lily sought out Cathy for a partner when they were first assigned the project. Lily really wanted to work with Cathy because Cathy was an extremely hard worker and always received the highest grades. Lily needed a few of those high grades to get through the year, and Cathy was just the person Lily needed. They met a few times until Lily became overwhelmed by the amount of work that needed to go into the project. They needed to have an essay, a display board, a slide presentation, and a set of handouts. "I really can't do this, Cathy. There's so much work to do, and I have other classes with homework," Lily had declared. "You have the same classes I have," Cathy had said, a little taken aback. Lily had replied with hints of flattery, "Well, I'm not as smart as you are, so I can't juggle all of these classes. So, you can just bring our project on the due date." After that day, Lily never talked to Cathy again. Whenever Lily happened to think about the project while hanging out with her friends, she was sure that Cathy was working away on the project. She hadn't worried about the project until now. Lily stared at the second hand on the clock; it moved too quickly. "Class, let's begin with our presentations since it'll take all period. Let's have Cathy and Lily's project first," Mr. Barrett announced. Lily looked around and saw no relief coming her way. 7 Select the correct answer. Answer:
1. Can you tell me when the party is?
2. Can you tell me if she is a teacher?
3. Can you tell me where John lives?
4. Can you tell me who those guests are?
5. Can you tell me if they are working hard today?
6. Can you tell me if your father is at work now?
7. Can you tell me what you do on weekends?
8. Can you tell me why your brother is so angry?
9. Can you tell me if you like to watch series?
10. Can you tell me if your mother has a job?
Explanation:
In English, indirect questions are used to make an inquiry more polite. The most common questions added to the original one are "Can you tell me" and "Do you know".
If the original, direct question has a question word such as "who", "what", "where", or "when", among others, all we have to do is change the original question so that it becomes a statement. Take a look at the example below:
- What did you eat? → eliminate the auxiliary "did" and use "eat" in the past → Can you tell me what you ate?
If the original question does not begin with a question word, we must either eliminate the auxiliary verb and conjugate the main verb, whenever possible, or simply change the auxiliary verb's place. We must also add "if":
- Is she your friend? → Can you tell me if she is your friend?
- Did she call you? → Can you tell me if she called you?

After re-reading Jobs' speech, write down three pieces of his advice to the audience. Use your own words. Do these messages seem to hold more logos or pathos for you? Explain which of the two (logos or pathos) is more powerful to you. Why?
The correct answer to this open question is the following.
After re-reading Jobs' speech, the three pieces of his advice to the audience are the following.
1) Always follow your heart, not other people's voices.
2) Do not let any external voice suppress your inner voice. Your inner voice is ypur best guide.
3) Sometimes bad things happen and you think they are definitive. But the worst things could be the best things that could have happened.
Do these messages seem to hold more logos or pathos for you?
To me, the message is full of pathos from the very beginning. It is full of personal anecdotes that connect with students.
Which of the two (logos or pathos) is more powerful to you.
For me, pathos is so much more powerful because it appeals to the emotion of the audience. And audiences better react to emotion rather than reason or logic.
And that is what Steve Jobs did during his commencement speech at Stanford, in 2005.
Jobs' speech followed three stories from his life one, in which he educates an anecdote concerning exiting school; another, about the examples he learned from being terminated by Apple and lastly, his appearance on death.
After re-reading Jobs' speech, the three bits of his advice to the audience are the accompanying. Always depend on your instinct, not other individuals' voices. Do not allow any external voice to stifle your inward voice. Your internal voice is your best aide.Sometimes bad things happen and you think they are conclusive. In any case, the most horrendously awful things could be the best things that might have happened.Do these messages appear to hold more logos or pathos for you?As far as it might be concerned, the message is loaded with pathos all along. It is loaded with personal anecdotes that associate with understudies.
Which of the two (logos or pathos) is all the more impressive to you.For purposes, pathos is quite a lot more remarkable because it appeals to the feeling of the audience. And audiences preferred react to feeling rather over reason or rationale.

Hello. Although you have presented the text to which this question refers, you have not presented the question itself, which makes it impossible for it to be answered. However, to try to help you, I will explain to you what is happening in this text and I hope this will be useful.
As you may already know, "Romeo and Juliet" is a play written by Shakespeare that tells the tragic story of forbidden love between Romeo and Juliet, that, although they love each other, they belong to enemy families. In the city where Romeo and Juliet live, there is a law that anyone who kills someone on the street will be killed. Well, Romeo killed Julieta's cousin, after being teased by him and after he married her, without the family of any of them knowing. In order not to be killed, he flees the city and Juliet is in tears for the death of her cousin and for the exile of her husband.
The scene shown above, shows the moment when Juliet's mother, Lady Capulet, watches her daughter cry in despair. Lady Capulet does not know that Juliet married Romeo and thinks that her daughter is crying solely for the death of her cousin. This is an example of dramatic irony, which occurs when the audience knows about something, but the characters don't. That's because while the audience knows the real reason Juliet is crying, her mother doesn't know.
Answer:
B. Juliet is relieved to know that Romeo is safe from harm.
Explanation:
How reliable are first impressions? Why do most of us rely on them so much, even when we, ourselves, may not like being judged by them?
- Share a time you made a bad first impression on someone or a group of people
Answer:
Well, honestly I don't think that first impressions matter that much because someone may come as shy, but they could be the complete opposite. I mean that's more common nowadays. And maybe some people act completely different when they first meet someone or are nervous (ex. Going on dates).
- I remember when I met my best friend and I rhought that he was uncool because everyone joked with him and made fun of. I didn't want to hang out with him and I thought that it was better to hang out with the "cool kids" and not with some "loser". But, we were in the same class and we also went to after-school activities so I had no chance to not see him. As time went buy, I started to like him more and more and saw that he was actually a pretty nice and fun person to be around. We gradually grew closer and closer, and now we are best friends (I mean he has his group of friends and I have mine, but that doesnt play a big role). Now with the pandemic around, we still are close and call each other at leat once a day.
I don't know if this makes a lot of sense, but what I'm trying to say that first impressions don't matter today as much as they did in the past and we don't have to judge people on the first impression they make. We have to dig deeper so we can actually find the real side they are hiding or are shy to portray.
